I've viewed several education spoofs created using Xtranormal, an animated storytelling tool. I decided to try my hand at it. The following clip goes with a passage used in our Targeted Intervention class.

Annotating Text
I came across this short clip(< 2 min.) that demonstrates how to annotate text and why it is important. Such a simple practice, but it is very effective in teaching students how to engage their brain while reading.

Personal Vision
Personal Vision on Prezi
Slide 2: I believe that all students can attain college/career readiness. As an instructional leader, it is my duty to remove roadblocks that stand in the way.
Slide 3: To reach a child's mind, we must first touch their heart. Build relationships with students. Decisions should be student centered, data driven and research based.
Slide 4: Build relationships/build trust
Form partnerships with students, families, community and staff.
Be open to changing how we define parent/family involvement- not everyone goes to PTA meetings, getting students to school is a form of parent involvement.
Slide 5: People, not programs or materials make the difference

Shared Vision Requires Shared Input
The Mission of the School District of Beloit, committed to excellence and strengthened and enriched by diversity, is to prepare each student to compete, contribute and thrive as an admirable citizen in a rapidly changing world by engaging students in a wide variety of high quality, relevant programs in partnership with families, schools and the stateline community. Fulfilling this mission, in part, requires attracting and retaining high quality educators. Students and educators need access to tools and resources that will assist in accomplishing the mission.
Communication between, the board of education, administration, and professional educators is critical. Meeting and conferring about topics and issues impacting student achievement provides an avenue for all stakeholders to share input. When effective communication skills, such as those outlined in chapter 9 of the text, are used, this process can create a shared vision and fosters a sense of ownership for everyone involved. Districts that retain some avenue for professional educators to offer input about topics such as professional development, technology needs and the working environment as it pertains to student learning will be able to attract and retain quality educators.

First Time Web 2.0 User
Today's assignment was to read the following WI Statutes:
111 - Employee Relations
115 - State Superintendent General Classifications and Definitions; Children with Disabilities
118- General School Operations
120- School District Government
Riveting! (insert sarcastic tone)
Then, selecting a Web 2.0 tool from http://cogdogroo.wikispaces.com/StoryTools to summarize the standard. I chose to create a Glog using Pinboard. (Our instructor, Brad Saron, is teaching me a whole new tech language this week!)
